Adaptogenic Mushrooms

Adaptogenic Mushrooms

Mushrooms: we all know what these are. BUT, did you know that mushrooms have amazing benefits?

I started hearing about adaptogenic mushrooms when I started listening to podcasts. There is this brand called Four Sigmatic, that I heard about a bunch of times. It turns out that my boyfriend had caught on around the same time because he had ordered some through Amazon. The one that he purchased, and I still use it today, is by Naturealm. So, what is the hype about these mushrooms? Let’s get right into it.

  1. They strengthen the immune system- There’s a carbohydrate that’s in all mushrooms called beta-glucans that helps to not only strengthen your immune system, but it helps to slow down tumor growth. In particular, the mushrooms that are powerful in fighting bacteria directly are turkey tail and cordyceps. Reishi and shiitake mushrooms are known to strengthen bone marrow and white blood cells, as well as boost the immune system. { via }

  2. Stress reducer- Reishi has multiple benefits including reducing stress, has antimicrobial properties against viruses and bacteria, and it has anti-inflammatory properties. It also helps to support the body as a whole through the heart, kidney, and liver. { via } What’s great about these adaptogens is that they meet you where you are. So, if you’re feeling anxious, it will calm you down, but if your body needs a boost, they will give you that. It’s whatever your body needs.

  3. So long insomnia- Having trouble falling asleep? Try incorporating these mushrooms for a deep sleep. Reishi has a powerful effect of helping to relieve from anxiety, which helps to promote restful sleep.

So, how do you consume these mushrooms?

Well, there are options! It comes in a powder form. You can put it in your coffee, your tea, your smoothies, really in anything!

ALWAYS make sure that the mushrooms are sourced organically to ensure the quality. I would recommend either one of the two that I mentioned above.

I like to put it in my coffee first thing in the morning with a dash of cinnamon and organic stevia since I like to fast in the morning.

The cool thing is that it really has no flavor, so as weird as it may sound to put mushrooms in your coffee, it’s really just something to boost your day and has no weird taste. I promise!

Have you ever heard of adaptogenic mushrooms? What are your thoughts?
